Tour des Chutes includes five road cycling routes ranging from 7 to 100 miles, featuring some of the most idyllic scenery that Central Oregon has to offer. From the volcanic rock faces at Smith Rock to drifting in and out of high desert forestland, these routes are sure to impress! NEW for 2019 – We have added a 34 mile out-and-back gravel ride that features more stunning views and cool, quiet forest riding. The nature of this route allows riders to shorten the total distance by just riding to the first aid station, for an 18 mile ride.

Following the ride, all participants and their friends and family are invited to join us for a great party. We will have a delicious burrito bar hosted by Longboard Louie’s, live music from Honey Don’t and Shady GroOove, and a Vendor Village featuring community partners, an activity station for kids and families, and more!

We are excited to be celebrating our 15th year in 2019! Tour des Chutes is scheduled for July 13, 2019, and will again take place at Pacific Crest Middle School. You can find details on event registration HERE, and see our detailed event schedule at the bottom of this page.

Safety & Support

Since the first ride in 2005, Tour des Chutes has emphasized rider safety and support for each route. No matter the distance you are pedaling, you can expect the following:

  • Fully stocked aid stations with food, drinks, and inspiration!
  • Mobile medical staff provided by our partners, Adventure Medics.
  • A full complement of safety riders and SAG drivers, including mobile mechanics, ready to help with whatever need arises.

SAG Vehicles

  • Each route is patrolled by a sag vehicle identified by a white TdC flag.
  • The sag driver will transport you and your bike, if necessary.                                            
  • Sags carry extra tubes, tire pumps, some food and fluid.  They are NOT mechanics.
  • Be aware some portions of any route may not have cell phone coverage.
  • Sag support on each course segment ends with corresponding Rest Stop closure.

Medical Support

TdC has teamed up with ADVENTURE MEDICS to help provide medical support during the ride:

  • Each route will be patrolled by a certified Paramedic or EMT riding a custom motorcycle
  • There will be a Medical tent staffed with two EMT’s located at the Cline Falls Aid Station.
  • In case of an emergency please dial 911 first and then AdvMed.
  • Adventure Medics number is 541-668-4001.
  • Adventure Medics carry full advanced life support medications and equipment similar to local ambulances and will often times be a faster response than local 911.
  • If you do not think an ambulance is necessary but are concerned about someone call AdvMed.

Aid Stations / Rest Stops

There are six total Aid Stations along the various routes. Locations can be found on the route maps and include:

  • Cline Falls State Park – Open from 8:00am-12:00pm and sponsored by Albertsons/Safeway.
  • Tumalo School (serving the 25, 50, 75, and 100 mile routes). Open from 7:30am-2:30pm..
  • Smith Rock State Park (serving the 100-mile route). Open from 8:00am-11:30am and sponsored by Trader Joes.
  • Alpaca Country Estates (serving the 75 and 100-mile routes including the Gear Drop). Open from 7:30am-11:00am and sponsored by Westside Pharmacy and Newport Market.
  • Our gravel route will have two fully stocked aid stations open from 8:30am until 12:00pm.

Mechanical Support

Limited mechanical support will be available at the venue and various spots on course. If you have a mechanical breakdown and are unable to continue, we will transport you to the nearest aid station, and to the Venue.


  • Helmet: Mandatory!    (a helmet mirror is a good idea!)
  • Bicycle:  In good working condition:  check brakes, cables, tires
  • Accoutrements: extra tubes, patch kit, pump, filled water bottles, identification and emergency contact #, ride number, bike shoes, cycling gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, anti-chafing cream, medical id bracelet (if applicable), cell phone, cash.
  • Consider also bringing a wind breaker, removeable sleeves, and layering your clothing.

Rules of the Road

The Tour des Chutes is a RIDE NOT A RACE.

  • Helmets are mandatory.
  • Stop at all stop signs and obey all traffic laws.
  • We highly encourage you to RIDE SINGLE FILE as far right as possible.
  • NEVER ride more than 2 abreast even on rural country roads.  Please respect this, as our permits depend on your compliance!! We have to insist on this as the course is not closed to traffic!
  • Observe good road manners and communicate with riders around you.  Leave adequate stopping distance between riders.
  • Use hand and verbal signals when turning or slowing down.   (The ‘Bird’ hand signal is not TdC approved…)
  • Have your bike in good condition – including brakes, cables, and tires.
  • All riders should carry identification, including your emergency contact phone number.  If you have a medical alert bracelet please wear it.
  • All children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • In case of an emergency, dial 911.
  • Help keep Central Oregon beautiful, please do not litter.

Packet Pick Up
